Marianne Govan Artist Statement I’m a 1984 graduate from the Art Department at CSUChico. I was one of the lucky ones who studied under Janet Turner, Sal Casa, Ann Pierce, and Ken Morrow to name a few. I concurrently studied communication design with Gregg Berryman and George Turnbull. I still consider all of them my mentors and heroes! I spent six years designing in Monterey and Carmel, CA but the rest of the time I have been here in Chico.Today, I am combining my drawing skills with my love of typography to offer logo design and graphic design for printed media. I especially enjoy creating logos for new local start up businesses. My watercolor work is mostly for my own enjoyment and personal expression and hangs in private collections in Chico and the Bay Area. I have not done much in the way of showing recently but hope to again soon. This past year I designed and produced a line of T-shirts under the name of Homegrown Designs. You will see the Homegrown Chico shirts in stores in Chico and at the bookstore at CSUC, full circle! New designs are being produced now for 2012. |
