Robert Woodward Artist Statement I have been capturing pieces of our world since I was very young. Although I am self-taught, my work reflects years of refining my technique and developing an individual style. My approach to photography continues to evolve, but has no specific direction. I continuously try new subjects and approaches and if it works, I return with a more considered approach. My general motivation is to capture subjects that are not commonly thought of as interesting; things that we walk past every day or even consider unappealing in their normal context. Many of these are loosely classified as “abstracts”. I look for interesting forms, lines, and colors in these images. But, I am still a sucker for a beautiful sunset, a pretty flower, or an expressive tree. I received a nominee award from the 2008 Black & White Spider Awards, an internationally judged photography competition.A few select photos are available for purchase at Art Etc. in Chico, CA. I currently have an exhibit at the Chico Municipal Center (all 3 floors, July 2009 through January 10, 2010). This exhibit include photos from my “Teichert Ponds” series, my “Bear Hole” series, and my “Same Tree, Many Skies” series. Also included are three canvas prints from my “Ripples” series. |
