The ChiVAA board just met and we set the dates for the 2019 Art at the Matador show, Save the dates!

The 2018 show was fabulous. We thank everyone who came to enjoy the art and music, to meet local artists showing their work, and to collect their art, plus everyone who participated, volunteered, and helped making this event the best art show in Chico. We look forward an even better event in 2019.

2019 will be the ninth year of the Art at the Matador at the historic Matador Motel on The Esplanade and 9th Avenue. This show continues to raise the profile of Chico’s visual arts community. This two-day, one-stop Art Expo has three aims: to give local artists a space of their own from which to share their visions; to educate the public about the variety and quality of the art in Chico; and to encourage an appreciation of the Chico vecino neighborhood – past and present.

Local artists transform rooms and tents into imaginative galleries. The Matador Motel becomes a living gallery. A large outdoor tent showcases live music and local talents. It is a joyous block party, free, and family friendly with live music, art demos, fun activities for kids, a penny-stamping machine, fire dancing, augmented reality glasses, Fairy Doors tour, food, a cantina, and easy parking, plus who know what we will come up for 2019!
