This year, ChiVAA, the Chico Visual Arts Alliance, is bringing back the DANCE part to the Chico ART Festival. In addition to all the art, art demos, activities for kids, food and coffee trucks, and the margaritas, the Chico ART Festival will features a music and dance stage with tables and a margarita bar under a big tent outdoors at St John’s Episcopal Church, 2341 Floral Ave, in Chico.
On Friday, May 12th at 8 pm, right after the art booths close, we will have an evening celebration with fire dancing by Alaya Crystal and Dancing Light Arts. This is the highlight of Friday making it worthwhile to stay until the end of the day. Past performances with fire dancers were electrifying. To pass the time until the dance performance begins, stroll the festival and check all the art, enjoy the live music on stage, have a margarita and a taco from the food truck.
Be prepared to be dazzled with an illuminating fire show by Alaya Crystal and Friends. From magical wings, whimsical umbrellas, to fun dance choreography with a variety of fire props, and streaking balls of fire, Alaya Crystal and Dancing Light Arts will give a fun and inspiring dance performance for a memorable close to Friday’s festivities at the Chico Art Festival!
Alaya Crystal is a multi-genre dancer and performing artist and has shared her unique and eclectic performances for over 20 years locally and throughout the West Coast. She has a background in Brazilian Dance and Drumming, Circus Arts, Aerial Arts and Fire Dancing, and loves to incorporate these and her own movement style along with storytelling, nature, and empowerment. She will be sharing a fire dancing show incorporating many different Circus and fire props, along with students from her dance school, Dancing Light Arts.
