“My lifelong fascination with clay began when I was a student at California State University, San Jose. I continued my clay education at San Jose City College and got my BA degree with an emphasis in ceramics at California State University, San Francisco. I pursued making a living as a ceramic artist but had to put aside my tools when I became a single parent.”
“Fast forward 15 years, as the empty nest loomed, I took a ceramics class at the Richmond Art Center and immediately fell down the rabbit hole again. I Moved to Chico in 1997 and began a 13 year career as a production potter.”
“I used a variety of methods to produce my pieces: slump molds, drape molds and the throwing wheel. I used a mid range clay and fired to cone 5 which allowed me to combine the strength of high fire clay with the brilliant colors unattainable at higher temperatures. I love bright colors and designs. My work is largely functional although I dabble in figurative sculpture when I can.”
“In 2006, I was fortunate to join the Butte Community College ceramic staff and taught through May of 2020. I quickly learned that I love teaching…. I get immense pleasure by sharing what I have learned about clay with others. I continue to teach at my studio in Chico.”
