ChiVAA, the Chico Visual Arts Alliance, is postponing this event until Mother’s Day weekend of 2021. Formerly “Art at the Matador,” the festival was to run May 8 and 9, 2020, in a new venue at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2341 Floral Avenue. Then, because of the pandemic, the event had to be delayed until October of 2020. Now, in the interest of public welfare, we must postpone again until May 7 and 8 of next year. Space deposits paid by artists for the 2020 event will be refunded.
2021 will be the ninth year of a spring festival that unites artists, art organizations and the public. St. John’s serene setting includes naturally lit indoor spaces, and beautifully landscaped grounds with a playground, picnic tables and labyrinth. Demos, live music, a bar and a food truck will enhance this family friendly event. Mark your calendars for participation in a spirit renewing arts festival on Mother’s Day weekend of 2021.
Let’s all cross our fingers in the hopes that 2021 will be a kind and benevolent new year. We hope to see you all then!
